My extensive experience working both as a school and clinical psychologist makes me uniquely qualified to help families navigate and interface with their school as it pertains to the specific needs of a child or adolescent.
I am specifically trained and have years of experience consulting with school personnel, and I have a thorough understanding and working knowledge of the laws that govern the services schools are required to provide for children with special needs. Because I also work in the schools, I understand how to work with school professionals in an effort to develop strong and positive relationships and work collaboratively to meet each student’s unique challenges.
I also enjoy working with parents about challenges they face within the home. I often consult with parents in order to help them better understand the needs and temperaments of their children. Sometimes it is helpful to have another, outside, perspective on the dynamics that occur in a family.
When you are in it, it can often be difficult to accurately assess what’s going on and what can be done to foster more positive and productive interactions. I work with parents to help parents modifying their interactions with their child(ren), in an effort to foster the development of better communication and behavioral support in the home.
