I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I earned my doctorate from New York University in the Child/Clinical/School Psychology Program, where I was honored with two teaching fellowships. My undergraduate degree is from Colgate University, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
I received the majority of my clinical training at Columbia Presbyterian in New York and UMDNJ in Newark, NJ. I have worked collectively for over 25 years as a school psychologist in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. I began my clinical practice in 2004 and worked for several years at the Montclair Counseling Center in Montclair, NJ. In 2010, I started my own private practice in Montclair, NJ.
I recently worked for over 17 years in the Montclair schools, and I presently maintain a private practice in Montclair, NJ. I work with children, adults and families, ages 3 and up, individually and in groups. I treat a variety of issues in my practice, including:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Behavior difficulties
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Social skills, bullying and relationship issues
- Attention difficulties
- Autism spectrum disorders
- Sensory and regulatory issues
- Family conflict/relationship difficulties
I believe in tailoring therapy to each individual’s needs and personality, and in making sure to consider all the systems that come into play (i.e. family, friends, school, work, etc.). Due to my extensive experience working in the schools, I am uniquely qualified to assist children, parents and families understand and navigate the school systems in an effort to help children achieve success in school. I consult frequently with parents, teachers and school professionals regarding the learning, social/emotional and behavioral needs of children in school. I also have experience working with families in transition, who are dealing with any and all aspects of separation, divorce and remarriage.
In addition to children and families, I truly enjoy working with young adults who are undergoing life transitions and attempting to figure out who they are and what they would like to become. As a working mother, I also particularly enjoy working with parents as they strive to understand the needs of their children, successfully balance work and family pressures, and adjust to changes over time and stages of development.
I am passionate about my work and I appreciate the opportunity to help others. To learn more about me please check out my blogs, and my published works focusing on What is ADHD and ADHD and Depression.
